Why Hydro Excavation?
Benefits
Hydro excavation is an effective alternative to traditional digging methods when access to subsurface utilities is needed, especially when utilities are located close to each other. This technique uses a combination of high-pressure water and vacuum suction to safely excavate soil, minimizing disruption to existing utilities and the surrounding environment. It is especially advantageous when working near underground gas, propane lines, and electrical systems, where any damage could have serious repercussions.
Applications
- Potholing or Daylighting: This process involves locating and exposing underground utilities. Hydro excavation allows for this to be done with minimal disturbance to both the site and the utility itself.
- Communication Poles or Sonotube Installation: Using traditional augers to remove soil can risk damaging subsurface utilities.
